Overview

The PIE 511B includes all ten RTD types listed for the 510B family—Platinum 100 (α = 3850, 3902, 3916, 3926) and 1000 (α = 3850, 3750) Ω, Copper 10 & 50 Ω, and Nickel 110 & 120 Ω—so one handheld covers mixed RTD fleets. Simulate directly in °C or °F, or use decade-box resistance from 0.00 to 410.00 Ω and 410.1 to 4001.0 Ω.

Accuracy is ±(0.015% of setting + 0.05 Ω) for 3- and 4-wire connections at 1–10.2 mA excitation. EZ-CHECK stores three temperatures; the digital dial sets values within 0.1°. Works with older fixed-excitation and newer pulsed-excitation multichannel instruments.

Includes four leads with retractable-shield banana plugs and spade lugs. Optional rubber boot with tilt stand. Made in the USA with NIST-traceable Certificate of Calibration.

Features (PIE)

PIE describes the 511B as a ten-type RTD plus ohms simulator that replaces a decade box: you dial directly in temperature instead of reading RTD tables. It simulates RTD resistance into transmitters, recorders, controllers, alarms and data acquisition systems.

  • Accuracy: ±0.25 °C (±0.5 °F) for Pt 100 Ω RTDs, with 0.1° resolution.
  • Ten RTD curves or ohms: Platinum 100 and 1000 Ω, Nickel 110 and 120 Ω, and Copper 10 and 50 Ω, with °C or °F selectable.
  • Compatibility: PIE states it works with pulsed-excitation devices (PLCs, DCSs, multichannel recorders) and smart transmitters, including popular Rosemount and Honeywell models.
  • Controls: two-speed EZ-Dial knob; EZ-Check switch stores 0% and 100% span settings.
  • Power and build: AA alkaline batteries, typically 45 hours of continuous use; protected to 60 V.
  • Certificate: NIST-traceable calibration certificate included. A rubber boot, carrying case and test data are optional.

PIE publishes a comparison of the PIE 511B with the Altek 11. Cases and boots are on our PIE calibrator accessories page.
