PIE 850 Multifunction Process Calibrator

Overview

The PIE 850 is built for plants that still run 10–50 mA loops as well as modern 4–20 mA systems. Source and read 0.000 to 24.000 mA or 0.000 to 52.000 mA (−25.00 to 125.00% of 4–20 mA, or −25.00 to 105.00% of 10–50 mA), with loop power capable of driving transmitters and positioners on 10–50 mA loops. Patented Ground Leak Detection works in both milliamp ranges.

Beyond milliamp, the 850 covers voltage, frequency, pH simulation (0.000 to 14.000 pH @ 25 °C), thermocouples, and RTDs. Milliamp accuracy is ≤ ±(0.02% of reading + 0.003 mA); thermocouples ≤ ±(0.02% of reading + 0.01 mV) with cold-junction compensation of ±(0.1 °C + 0.005%/°C); RTD/Ω ±(0.025% of reading + 0.075 Ω).

A single handheld for mixed milliamp standards and temperature/electrical work. Made in the USA with NIST-traceable Certificate of Calibration.

Features (PIE)

PIE lists the 850 as a 10–50 mA multifunction process calibrator: mA, V, TC, ohms, RTD, Hz, pH and pressure.

• Milliamps and volts: 4–20 mA and 10–50 mA ranges, millivolts (−20.000 to 99.999 mV and −500.00 to 999.99 mV source) and DC volts (read to 60 V). Simulate 2-wire transmitters and power loops from the built-in supply (24 VDC at 20 mA; 40 VDC at 50 mA), with a built-in 250 Ω resistor for HART hookups.
• Loop diagnostics (patented): ground-fault and current-leak detection (US Patent 7,248,058), plus LoopScope, which shows current, voltage and resistance of a live loop at once.
• Temperature: thermocouple types J, K, T, E, R, S, B, N, G, C, D, L (J DIN), U (T DIN) and P (Platinel II); RTD types Pt 100 Ω (3850, 3902, 3916, 3926) and Pt 1000 Ω (3850), Cu 10 and 50 Ω, Ni 110 and 120 Ω.
• Frequency: source and read to 2000 CPM, 999.99 Hz, 9999.9 Hz and 20.000 kHz, for flow and vibration systems.
• pH: source 0.000 to 14.000 pH at 25 °C (77 °F), corresponding to +414.12 to −414.12 mV.
• Pressure: with optional PIE digital pressure modules (32 modules for gauge, differential, compound and absolute pressure).
• Continuity: built-in beeper checks wiring.
• Stepping and ramping: store three outputs on the EZ-CHECK switch; step in 2, 3, 5 or 11 steps (100%, 50%, 25% or 10% of span) or ramp between zero and span.
• Read mode: recall MAX and MIN values to see process variability.

Included (PIE)

Rubber boot, deluxe hands-free carrying case, certified test data, 4 AA lithium batteries and mV/RTD test leads (020-0820).
