Frequently asked questions

Pin or pinless moisture meter?

• Pin meters read through contact pins: the REED R6013 (wood 6 to 44% MC, ±1%) and the REED R6015 (wood 6 to 99.9% MC, ±1%, integrated pins or a remote hand-press probe).
• Pinless meters read without penetrating the surface: the REED R6010 (0 to 100% MC, 0.8 to 1.6" / 20 to 40 mm detection depth).
• Both: the REED R6018 combines pin and pinless modes. In pin mode it reads 5 to 50% in wood and 1.5 to 33% in building materials.

Which meters measure heat stress (WBGT)?

The REED R6200 and REED R6210 WBGT meters measure ambient temperature, humidity, wet bulb, black globe temperature and WBGT. The REED R6250SD adds data logging, with indoor and outdoor WBGT and a black globe range from 32 to 176°F (0 to 80°C).

How do I record temperature and humidity over time?

The REED R6020 and REED R6030 dataloggers each store up to 16,000 temperature and 16,000 humidity readings. They cover −40 to 158°F (−40 to 70°C), with sampling from 2 seconds to 24 hours. For logging with dew point and wet bulb, use the REED R6050SD.

How can I check a humidity meter in the field?

REED humidity calibration standards are rated ±1% at 77°F (25°C): 33% RH (R9933) and 75% RH (R9975). The R9980 kit includes both and is listed for the R6001, R9905 and R6050SD, among others.

Is there one meter for air velocity, humidity, light and temperature?

Yes. The REED R4700SD data logging environmental meter measures air velocity and air temperature, ambient temperature, relative humidity, light and contact temperature. The R4700SD-SOUND adapter adds sound level measurement from 30 to 130 dB across three ranges.
