Infrared Thermometers & Thermal Imagers

Infrared thermometers and thermal imagers for non-contact temperature surveys — spot IR guns and imaging cameras used by HVAC, electrical, food-service, and maintenance teams.

Common tools on this site

  • Spot IR thermometers — REED R1660, R2300, R2310, R2320, R2330, and R2340 infrared thermometers for single-point surface checks; FS-200 food-service IR thermometer when stocked.
  • Thermal imagers — REED R2150, R2165, R2168, and R2170 thermal imagers for temperature maps and hot-spot surveys; R2170-3.7V replacement battery when OEM pairing is clear.

IR thermometer vs thermal imager

  • Infrared thermometer (spot) — single-point surface temperature with a laser/aiming aid; fast for HVAC and equipment checks.
  • Thermal imager — a temperature map of the scene for finding hot spots, moisture patterns, and insulation gaps.

Selection tips

  • Range and distance-to-spot — match the target size and working distance.
  • Emissivity — adjustable emissivity improves accuracy on metals and shiny surfaces.
  • Environment — rugged housings and appropriate IP ratings for plant floors.
  • Keep OEM batteries and cases listed on product pages when available.

  • REED FS-200 (food service): −58 to 392°F (−50 to 200°C), 8:1, fixed emissivity 0.95, 1 s response. It has a user-settable alarm with green (normal) and red (high) LEDs.
  • REED R2300: −25.6 to 752°F (−32 to 400°C), 12:1, adjustable emissivity 0.1 to 1.0, 500 ms response.
  • REED R2310: −31 to 1202°F (−35 to 650°C), 12:1, adjustable emissivity, 250 ms response, with Max, Min, Average and Differential readings. Tripod mountable.
  • REED R2320: −26 to 1472°F (−32 to 800°C), 30:1, bright color display, adjustable emissivity, 250 ms response.
  • REED R2330: −26 to 2282°F (−32 to 1250°C), 50:1, adjustable emissivity, 250 ms response.
  • REED R2340: 55:1, integral type K thermocouple input for contact measurement, high-resolution TFT color display, storage for up to 999 groups, rechargeable Li-ion battery.

All of the above use an 8 to 14 µm spectral response (6 to 14 µm on the FS-200) and a built-in laser pointer.

Thermal imaging

The REED R2170 has 320 x 240 infrared resolution (76,800 pixels). It measures −4 to 1022°F (−20 to 550°C) at ±3.6°F (2°C) or ±2% of reading, with a 55.0 x 41.3° field of view. It has a 3.5 in color display, 7 color palettes and 4 image modes (thermal, visual, picture-in-picture and fusion). The REED R2165 offers 160 x 120 resolution (19,200 pixels).

Frequently asked questions

What does distance-to-spot ratio (D:S) mean?

It is the ratio of distance to the diameter of the measured spot. At 12:1, the thermometer reads a spot about 1 in across from 12 in away. REED's models range from 8:1 (FS-200) to 55:1 (R2340).

Which REED infrared thermometer measures the highest temperature?

The REED R2330 reads up to 2282°F (1250°C). The R2320 reaches 1472°F (800°C), and the R2310 reaches 1202°F (650°C).

Which REED infrared thermometer has adjustable emissivity?

The R2300, R2310, R2320, R2330 and R2340 have digitally adjustable emissivity from 0.1 to 1.0. The FS-200 food service thermometer has a fixed emissivity of 0.95.

Can one instrument take both infrared and contact readings?

Yes. The REED R2340 has an integral type K thermocouple input for contact measurement alongside its 55:1 infrared optics.

Which REED model is designed for food service?

The REED FS-200 is designed specifically for food service industry requirements. It covers −58 to 392°F (−50 to 200°C), with an audible and visual alarm.

Can I buy an infrared thermometer with a calibration certificate?

Yes. Eligible IR thermometers and imagers can ship with ISO/IEC 17025 accredited calibration; ask for the points that match your procedure. For in-house checks, the REED BX-500 blackbody calibrator calibrates infrared thermometers, pyrometers and thermal imagers from 122 to 932°F (50 to 500°C).
