PIE 525B Automated Thermocouple and RTD Calibrator

Overview

The PIE 525B is an automated thermocouple and RTD calibrator for checking instruments and measuring sensors in the shop, plant, or field. It works with 14 thermocouple types and 12 RTD types (listed below).

Thermocouple accuracy is ±(0.008% of setting/reading + 0.006 mV) with ±0.05 °C cold-junction compensation from a NIST-traceable thermistor. RTD and ohms 3- and 4-wire accuracy is ±(0.015% of setting/reading + 0.05 Ω). Secondary displays show the millivolt or resistance value and the measured cold-junction temperature.

Automatic output stepping, rubber boot, and backlit display support fast field calibration of transmitters, PLCs, and recorders. Made in the USA with a NIST-traceable Certificate of Calibration.

Features (PIE)

• Thermocouples: J, K, T, E, R, S, B, N, G, C, D, L (J DIN), U (T DIN) and P (Platinel), plus −13.000 to 80.000 mV, to 0.1 and 0.01 °F/°C.
• RTDs: Pt 10, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 Ω (3850), Pt 100 Ω (α 3902, 3916, 3926), Cu 10 and 50 Ω, and Ni 120 Ω, to 0.1 and 0.01 °F/°C.
• Accuracy: to 0.2°, with resolution to 0.01 °F and °C. The cold-junction sensor is accurate to 0.05 °C.
• Heat treating: PIE states the 525B can meet the requirements of an AMS 2750 field test instrument when certified by an accredited laboratory.
• RTD troubleshooting: automatic 2-, 3- or 4-wire detection shows open wires, and the 525B measures excitation current to verify the instrument.
• Secondary displays: resistance for RTDs; compensated millivolts and cold-junction temperature for thermocouples.
• Connections and power: brass screw terminals plus a mini T/C socket; backlit display; four AA batteries, changed without tools.
