PIE 830 Multifunction Diagnostic Process Calibrator

Overview

The PIE 830 is a diagnostic multifunction process calibrator covering milliamp, voltage, frequency, pH, ohms, thermocouples, RTDs, and pressure (with compatible PIE pressure modules). LoopScope™ simultaneously displays loop current, DC voltage, and AC voltage components so you can see loop health at a glance, while patented Ground Leak Detection finds hidden faults from moisture and wiring issues.

Electrical accuracies are typically ≤ ±(0.02% of reading) class—mA at ≤ ±(0.02% of reading + 0.003 mA), thermocouples at ≤ ±(0.02% of reading + 0.01 mV) with ±0.05 °C CJ, and RTD/Ω at ±(0.025% of reading + 0.075 Ω). Source and read 0.000 to 24.000 mA with transmitter supply and 2-wire simulation.

Includes batteries, Certificate of Calibration, blue rubber boot, hands-free case, mA/V leads, and RTD wire kit per the datasheet. Made in the USA with NIST-traceable calibration.

Features (PIE)

PIE lists the 830 as a dual-channel multifunction calibrator (mA, V, TC, ohms, RTD, Hz, pH and pressure) with two isolated channels and five troubleshooting tools:

• Current leak detection (patented): finds ground faults and current leakage.
• LoopScope (patented): shows current, voltage and resistance of a live loop at once, to find power-supply problems and loops with too many loads.
• RTD wire detection: the display shows which of the four wires are connected to an RTD.
• Universal isolated transmitter: set the 830 up as a temperature, frequency, millivolt or pressure transmitter to swap out a suspect transmitter.
• Continuity checker: a beeper finds broken wires and shorts.

Functions:

• Milliamps and volts: source and read to 24 mA, millivolts (−20.000 to 99.999 mV and −500.00 to 999.99 mV source) and DC volts (read to 60 V). Simulate 2-wire transmitters, power loops from the built-in 24 V supply, and use the built-in 250 Ω resistor for HART hookups.
• Temperature: thermocouple types J, K, T, E, R, S, B, N, G, C, D, L (J DIN), U (T DIN) and P (Platinel II); RTD types Pt 100 Ω (3850, 3902, 3916, 3926) and Pt 1000 Ω (3850), Cu 10 and 50 Ω, Ni 110 and 120 Ω.
• Frequency: source and read to 2000 CPM, 999.99 Hz, 9999.9 Hz and 20.000 kHz, for flow and vibration systems.
• pH: source 0.000 to 14.000 pH at 25 °C (77 °F), corresponding to +414.12 to −414.12 mV.
• Pressure: with optional PIE digital pressure modules (32 modules for gauge, differential, compound and absolute pressure).
• Stepping and ramping: store three outputs on the EZ-CHECK switch; step in 2, 3, 5 or 11 steps (100%, 50%, 25% or 10% of span) or ramp between zero and span.
